Experience is valuable but it does not remove blind spots. People may see a pattern that you cannot see from your position.
One action to start with
Ask two trusted people what you do that makes their work harder. Listen without defending, look for a pattern and choose one behaviour to change.
What this can look like
A leader may believe they are helping by checking every detail while the team experiences the same behaviour as a lack of trust.
Illustrative example. This is a short application guide to chapter 29, not the full chapter.
Bring it into the business
Ask your team where they see this pattern. Agree one decision, one owner and a date to review what has changed. Start small enough to act on what you learn.
Use the leadership meeting pack ↗Want an outside perspective?
Strengthen leadership habits, accountability and the conversations that help your team perform.
